Since its inception in 2001, the Kansas Historic Tax Credit Program has created 9,879 new jobs and $715 million in economic output. The Kansas Historic Tax Credit, along with the Federal Historic Tax Credit, are threatened this session as legislators in the Senate and the House as well as the Kansas State Legislature work to overcome budget shortfalls and establish widespread tax reform policies.
KPA has partnered with Friends of Historic Preservation in order to lobby Kansas Legislators and garner their support for the Kansas Historic Tax Credit Program. Below are a few projects that utilized the Kansas Historic Tax Credit Program with facts about their economic benefits. In addition, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has great information on state tax credit programs along with links to advocacy tools.
Please take a moment to contact (or even meet) your elected officials to discuss these issues.
